HELP GIVING CIRCLES GROW THIS YEAR

When people pool their gifts and decide together where they go, communities change. The Grapevine Giving Foundation supports the people and tools that make that possible. The first $5,000 given by December 31 will be matched.

Donations are securely processed by Grapevine, our third-party payment processor.

The Movement

Giving Circles aren’t new. Women were pooling gifts and deciding together where to give back in the early 1980s, long before anyone had a name for it. What’s new is the scale. Collective giving is now the fastest-growing form of philanthropy in the country.

Today that means more than $65M given through 1,300+ Giving Circles, by 102,000+ members and 63,000+ donors, reaching more than 9,000 nonprofits.

Why It Works

Philanthropy scholar Angela Eikenberry’s research suggests Giving Circles can work as “schools of democracy,” places where people practice deciding things together. 83% of members say being part of a circle made them more confident about changing something in their own community.

The habit lasts, too. 73% of new donations in 2025 were set up to recur, compared to about 2% for nonprofits generally.

What Your Gift Does

Giving Circles are free to join, but they aren’t free to run. It costs $1,250 to support a single circle for a year. That covers the tools, the behind-the-scenes administration, and the infrastructure circles rely on to pool funds and make grants together.

Your Gift, Matched

Inspired by Giving Tuesday, members of our Community Advisory Council will match the first $5,000 given directly to the Grapevine Giving Foundation by December 31. This is separate from any gift you make through your own circle.

Donations are securely processed by Grapevine, our third-party payment processor.

Other Ways to Give

You can also support the Grapevine Giving Foundation (EIN 87-2389502) with:

  • ✅ Gifts of appreciated stock

  • ✅ Employer matching programs

  • ✅ A qualified charitable distribution from your IRA, if you're 70½ or older. It counts toward your required distribution and won't add to your taxable income.

Under the federal tax law passed in 2025, beginning with the 2026 tax year, many donors who don't itemize can deduct cash gifts to qualifying charities, up to $1,000 for single filers or $2,000 for married couples filing jointly. Whether this applies to you depends on your own tax situation, so please check with your tax advisor. The Grapevine Giving Foundation can't provide tax or legal advice.
